What this site knows about you
A short policy for a site that collects almost nothing. What is stored, what is not, and who else is involved when you click an outbound link.
What we collect
Nothing by default. Reading a page on this site does not require an account, and we do not ask you to create one.
Your email address, only if you give it. The signup box invites you to be told when a procedure on this site changes because a platform changed. If you enter an address, it is stored for that purpose and no other. It is never sold, rented or shared, and a one-line reply removes it.
Aggregate traffic measurement. We use analytics to see which pages are read and which are not, so the guides that get written next are the ones people need. This is counted at the level of pages and sources rather than individuals, and it is not used to build a profile of you.
Cookies
This site sets no advertising cookies and carries no advertising.
Analytics may set a cookie or use equivalent browser storage to avoid counting the same visit twice. Blocking it makes no difference to how the site works — nothing here depends on it.
Outbound partner links
Links beginning /go/ pass you to a platform we have, or expect to have, a partner arrangement with. Following one hands you to that platform, and from that point their privacy policy applies rather than ours.
Those platforms typically set a cookie recording that you arrived from here, so that any commission is attributed correctly. We receive back only aggregate information — how many people signed up — and never your name, your email address or your payment details.
If you would prefer not to be tracked in that way, type the platform’s address into your browser directly. The affiliate disclosure explains the arrangement in full.
What we never do
We do not sell data. We do not run advertising networks. We do not fingerprint browsers. We do not ask for anything beyond an email address, and we do not need that either.
Your rights
You can ask what is held about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted, and we will do it. For an email address on the notification list, replying to any message is the fastest route; otherwise write to the address on the contact page.
Requests are actioned as quickly as we can read them, which is usually the same week.
Children
This site is written for people running a business or a personal website and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.
Changes
If this policy changes, the revision date at the top of the page changes with it. Material changes will be described in a notification email to anyone on the list rather than being made quietly.
